Job Summary
Self-Sufficiency Advocate (Part-Time) travels within northwestern Iowa counties to provide direct support, mentorship, and advocacy for youth ages 18–21 who have aged out of foster care or qualify for PAL services. Responsibilities include assessing safety and basic needs, meeting clients bi-monthly in-person, developing individualized case plans, delivering case management focused on education, employment, housing, financial literacy, and well-being, providing transportation when needed, coordinating with schools, employers, therapists, and other service providers, maintaining compliance with the Iowa Aftercare Services Network contract, documenting case notes and billing accurately, and ensuring services meet state standards. The role emphasizes stable, supportive guidance during transitions to independence and requires travel and relationship-building with community partners.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field
- or 4 years of related experience
- Travel is required for this position
- Valid state-issued driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- 21 years of age
- Knowledge of Iowa Aftercare Services or PAL programming
- Strong assessment, case management, and documentation skills
