Job Summary
The Self-Pay Collection Representative is responsible for managing inpatient/outpatient accounts from the beginning of the billing period through accurate resolution, focusing on self-pay accounts. Key responsibilities include resolving balances, referral for collection activities, adhering to billing regulations, and representing the department in a professional manner. Essential skills include proficiency in 10-key data entry, Microsoft Word, and Excel, along with strong knowledge of billing requirements and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business Administration
- 2 years of hospital patient accounting or consumer collections experience
- Certification obtained from a nationally accredited billing program (i.e., Certified Medical Billing Specialist CMBS, Certified Medical Records Technician CMRT, Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist CMRS)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
