Job Summary
Process orders for material or merchandise received by mail, telephone, or personally from customers or employees by operating RF scanners, pallet jacks, forklifts, and cherry pickers. Identify and select correct products and quantities, determine partial cases, and assemble products on pallets to minimize damage during transportation. Contact forklift operators to replenish empty pick bins, locate supervisors for product substitutes, and check for items in transit nightly. Open and close boxes, bale containers, and pick orders from stock while verifying information and quantities against picking lists. Sort materials on racks according to slot assignments, rotate product for first-in-first-out, and load trucks securely. Receive trucks as needed, inspect products for quality and expiration dates, and perform inventory functions and warehouse maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
