Job Summary
Conduct structural verification, code assessments, and hazard assessments for seismic, blast, and fire performance modelling across nuclear, renewables, and transport sectors. Develop feasibility analyses, define civil/mechanical interfaces, and lead life-extension studies including degradation mechanism analysis. Manage projects from scoping to delivery, engage directly with clients to define needs, and author Safety Case documentation while mentoring junior engineers. Apply SQUG accreditation and probabilistic analysis capabilities to strengthen seismic qualification standards for complex infrastructure programmes.
Required Qualifications
- Seismic Qualification User Group (SQUG) accreditation
- A master's degree (or higher) in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartership with the Institute of Civil Engineers or Structural Engineers
- A desire to work on technically challenging, safety-critical infrastructure projects
- An interest in or experience with client-facing consultancy work
- A collaborative growth mindset and willingness to work across disciplines
Desired Qualifications
- demonstrable technical experience (relative to your time in industry) in the following: Code-based assessment (e.g., Eurocode, ASCE, AISC standards)
- Use of structural tools (e.g., Robot, Ansys, Abaqus, Tekla, etc.)
- Seismic or dynamic structural analysis
- Site-based / Structural inspections
- Hazard Analysis and Requirement quantification
- Authoring or approval roles for Safety Case documentation
- Geotechnical design or groundwork assessments
- Understanding of Inspection regimes and CDM compliance
- Experience working with and delivering to NEC/RIBA contracts and drafting relevant documentation
