Job Summary
Implement the Seeds to Trees environmental education program in NYC Parks and Schools from October to December, starting with classroom sessions and concluding with field experiences. Facilitate program activities primarily outdoors, occasionally providing logistical support, lesson material preparation, and general administrative tasks. Support the gathering of digital materials for marketing, assist with data collection and recordkeeping, and help transport, maintain, and store program gear. Work 12-16 hours per week from early March to June, reporting to the Program Manager and collaborating with part-time educators.
Required Qualifications
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Environmental Education/Science, Environmental Studies, or in a related field
- Commitment to punctuality and attendance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential
- Willingness to work outdoors in sometimes inclement weather such as high temperatures and light rain
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of/Experience in Environmental Science and Education a plus
- Commitment to helping middle and elementary school students develop an interest in Environmental Science and NYC Parks through positive attitude and role modeling
- Desire to learn through working closely with urban, marginalized youth
