Job Summary
Conduct continuous rounds of the unit and facility to document resident status and enforce rules and regulations. Monitor resident behaviors from assigned posts, address problematic actions, and search for contraband in bags and items brought into the facility. Sign residents in and out on passes, report signs of abuse or neglect, and assist in retrieving eloped residents. Participate in Crisis Prevention and Intervention techniques, including physical restraint if trained, and maintain alert attention throughout the shift. Ensure the post is supervised at all times while arranging coverage for breaks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Positive employer references
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read and write in the English language, utilizing proper spelling and grammar
- Ability to speak the English language in an understandable manner
- Willingness to work harmoniously with all personnel
- Ability to deal tactfully with facility personnel, residents, family members, visitors, consultants, government agencies/personnel, and the general public

- Ability to maintain an appropriately professional manner in intense and/or crisis situations
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
- Freedom from physical limitation so as to be able to participate in physical C.P.I. (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) techniques as trained by certified trainer
- Ability to assist in the Non-violent Crisis Intervention Team Hold intervention as trained by qualified staff
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Willingness to be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the (HIV) AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
