Job Summary
Security Team Lead Spec responsible for leading the Security Department team on a shift, providing direction to staff, and ensuring efficient completion of assigned tasks. The role functions as a first-line support to security staff, models professional conduct, and leads based on departmental policies. Core duties include coordinating daily team functions, promoting problem solving and teamwork, overseeing performance evaluations, participating in hiring, conducting preliminary investigations, communicating with oncoming shifts, responding to emergencies with appropriate escalation, aiding patients, visitors, and staff, managing building rounds and access, maintaining traffic and parking management, and advising management on security improvements. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with multiple pathways to associate/bachelor degrees, valid driver’s license, certification in First Aid, and required background checks and weapons trainings. Skills emphasized include leadership, communication, incident response, customer service, and cross-functional collaboration with hospital leadership.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years of experience in the security field OR Associate’s degree in criminal justice, criminology, forensics, law or related field of study AND two (2) years experience in the security field OR Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, criminology, forensics, law or related field of study AND one (1) year experience in the security field
- Valid Driver’s License
- Certification in BLS or HeartSaver First Aid within 60 days of hire date
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable) background check as required for regulated areas
- Completion of security officer armed training and lethal weapon training
- TASER user certification
- ACT 235 certification
- Ability to lead and coordinate team functions
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and leadership
- Experience in incident investigations
- Customer service orientation
- Emergency response preparedness
