Security Systems Engineer

Job Summary
Manage and maintain district-wide hardware and software for security and emergency management, including a video surveillance system, visitor management system, and access control system (including request hardware/video and emergency buttons). Provide ongoing training and support to campus personnel for access control, schedule facility use events, and collaborate with vendors and district Technology Services to troubleshoot and upgrade security systems. Develop and maintain reports, review trends for security events, assist with archiving video records, and participate in regular professional development. Serve as liaison between Operational Services and Technology Services, assist with budgeting and cost estimates, and oversee security-installation-related projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience
- Experience in design, implementation, and management of security systems
- Prefer experience with K-12 school systems
- Prior experience working with contractors and vendors, and writing system specifications
- Knowledge of video system platforms, surveillance cameras, and access control systems
- Demonstrated ability to conduct engaging training sessions, write and provide easy-to-use procedures
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Organized
- Able to conduct on-site inspections of district facilities
- Solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP model
- Knowledge of WAN/LAN/WLAN design and implementation
- Experience imaging and working in Microsoft AD and SCCM environments
- Practical working knowledge of design, installation, and maintenance of UTP and fiber optics cabling systems
- Able to troubleshoot hardware and software
- Manage and maintain district-wide hardware and software related to security and emergency management
