Job Summary
Security Software Engineer at Starlink SpaceX: responsible for designing and building security infrastructure and features across Starlink systems (routers, dishes, gateways, satellites), integrating cryptographic services, maintaining production security posture, and prototyping/security improvements. Requires hands-on security software development experience with languages such as Python, C++, or Golang, plus knowledge of OS/network security, cryptographic primitives, and secure boot. Requires ability to work in a team and independently, with strong communication and adaptability. ITAR-compliant eligibility is required; compensation ranges for Level I/II roles span 130k-175k with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or another STEM discipline; OR 2+ years of professional security software development experience in lieu of a degree
- Experience with Python, C++, or Golang
- Experience designing and implementing security solutions for OS, distributed systems, or large-scale infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong communication skills
- Flexibility and ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Advanced degree in technical or engineering discipline (preferred)
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends (required)
- Security-focused software development experience
- Knowledge of cryptographic primitives
- Familiarity with security infrastructure and cryptographic services
