Job Summary
Conduct public safety patrols and security checks around grounds, parking lots, and buildings to ensure the safety of staff, patients, visitors, and the community. Monitor environments for disruptive behavior or illegal activities, report incidents to authorities, and utilize de-escalation procedures to maintain order. Perform regular roving patrols to deter criminal activity and discourage trespassing, while checking emergency egress paths and securing buildings before and after shifts. Escort staff and visitors as needed, provide directions, and conduct preliminary investigations or witness interviews. Submit daily shift reports documenting relevant incidents and recognize unsafe conditions such as unsecured doors or environmental hazards. Maintain a visible security presence and enforce established protocols to prioritize safety in a diverse healthcare environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years' experience in Private Security, Law Enforcement, Corrections, Social Services, or a related field
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be completed with MH upon hire)
- First Aid certification (may be completed with MH upon hire)
- Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Current Arizona driver's license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MH)
Desired Qualifications
- Valid AZ DPS Guard Card
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem-solve while in stressful situations
- Knowledge of de-escalation strategies with ability to de-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts with peaceful outcomes
- Computer proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email protocol
- Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills with emphasis on responsiveness, building trust, mutual respect, and courtesy
- Demonstrates cultural awareness and the ability to provide effective leadership, communication, and service in a diverse healthcare environment
