Job Summary
Security Screener responsible for screening to prevent weapons, explosives and dangerous items from entering the air transportation system using screening equipment such as hand-held metal detectors and physical inspections. Ensures compliance with Government/Airport/Client/Company regulations, communicates effectively, participates in the Safety Management System (SMS), reports safety hazards and equipment problems, conducts searches, notifies Law Enforcement Officers and Airline Ground Security Coordinators when necessary, safely handles any items found, maintains control and confidentiality of items, reports incidents to supervision, and maintains required documentation and a clean work area. Requires ability to read/write English, handle identification badges and labels, open/close luggage hardware, and tolerate the physical demands of the role; on-site duties and standard security procedures to support aviation security at Denver locations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Previous experience in security, military, or customer service
- Must have reliable telephone and transportation
- Previous airline experience
- Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English
- Must be able to read identification badges, credentials and labels on bottles, aerosol cans and packages
- Must be able to open and close latches, zippers and screw caps. Remove and feel beneath baggage contents and reach all sides of a bag
- Must be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and audible alarms generated by metal detection devices with other noise in the background
- Must have manual dexterity to operate hand want, and to search various shaped items and packages
- May be exposed to hazards resulting from investigation of alarms, and other irregularities
- Must be able to take verbally direct in English
- Must be able to read, wire, understand and carry out instructions in English
- Must be able to sit, stand, lift up to 75 lbs., and/or bend throughout the shift
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
- Must meet necessary requirements to obtain a security sensitive identification badge
- Must be in proper uniform or business attire as directed by company officials
- Identification badges must always be visible
- Project a positive image and respond to inquiries from clients, staff and public in a courteous manner
- Treat all information as confidential
