Job Summary
Install, program, test, repair, and service non-routine security, fire alarm, and building automation systems while reading blueprints, interpreting schematics, and commissioning new equipment. Write custom programs, perform start-up and certification testing, and train customers on assigned projects ranging from small to large scale. Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual operational problems and advise management on product performance and installation standards. Mentor less experienced staff, supervise workers during equipment tuning, and coordinate project timelines with managers to minimize risks and control deviations. Maintain customer satisfaction through direct technical support and close-out documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High School/GED or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years relevant experience
- Must have Security Experience with basic programming
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis
- 25% of Travel
- Solid technical skills and experience fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems
- Solid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions
- To be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision
- Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings
- Solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.)
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Advanced computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and proficient in other relevant applications
