Job Summary
Conduct security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle, monitoring entrances and exits while watching for irregular conditions or safety hazards. Sound alarms or contact police and fire departments regarding unauthorized persons or fires, and warn violators of rule infractions such as loitering or smoking. Permit authorized entry, observe departing personnel to prevent theft, and investigate accidents, incidents, or suspicious activities by preparing reports and maintaining written logs. Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous manner and make emergency notifications as required by site Post Orders. Work irregular shifts with little to no advance notice; valid driver's license and background investigation required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent or 5 years of verifiable experience
- Valid driver's license if driving a company or customer-owned vehicle
- Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
- Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
- At least 18 years of age, or higher if required by the state (21 years, if armed)
- Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments
- Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
- Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
- Effective oral and written communication skills; able to write informatively, clearly, and accurately
- Active listening and problem-solving skills
- Assess and evaluate situations effectively; identify critical issues quickly and accurately
- Mediate conflict with tact, diplomacy
- Teamwork
- Attention to detail
- Must be able to work irregular shifts at times with little to no advance notice
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic)
- Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience
