Job Summary
Conduct security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle, watching for irregular conditions that may create safety hazards. Sound alarms or call police and fire departments regarding fires or unauthorized persons, and warn violators of rule infractions like loitering or smoking. Permit authorized entry, monitor entrances and exits, and observe departing personnel to protect against theft. Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and maintain required written logs. Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous manner while making emergency notifications as necessary. Work irregular shifts with little to no advance notice at varying locations across healthcare, education, and finance industries.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent or 5 years of verifiable experience
- Valid driver's license if driving a company or customer-owned vehicle
- Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
- Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
- At least 18 years of age, or higher if required by the state (21 years, if armed)
- Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments
- Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
- Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
- Effective oral and written communication skills; able to write informatively, clearly, and accurately
- Active listening and problem-solving skills
- Assess and evaluate situations effectively; identify critical issues quickly and accurately
- Mediate conflict with tact, diplomacy
- Teamwork
- Attention to detail
- Must be available for irregular shifts at times with little to no advance notice
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic)
- Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience
