Job Summary
Conduct security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle, monitoring entrances and exits while watching for irregular conditions or safety hazards. Sound alarms or contact police and fire departments during emergencies, warn violators of rule infractions, and investigate incidents to prepare required reports. Permit authorized access, observe departing personnel to prevent theft, and aid customers and employees in a courteous manner. Make emergency notifications as necessary per site Post Orders. Work irregular shifts with little to no advance notice, requiring personal transportation to visit various locations.
Required Qualifications
- 21+ Years of Age
- Valid Driver's License - AU Driver Policy Requirements
- Valid Driver's License - In Job State
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent or 5 years of verifiable experience
- Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments
- Be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
- Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Active listening and problem-solving skills
- Assess and evaluate situations effectively; identify critical issues quickly and accurately
- Mediate conflict with tact, diplomacy
- Teamwork
- Attention to detail
- Must be able to walk, sit, stand, and drive for long periods
- Be comfortable working in the elements
- Exercise good judgment in de-escalation

- Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience
