Job Summary
Security Patrol Officers at Kansas City Public Schools are responsible for preserving peace, protecting property, preventing criminal acts, and enforcing district policies. They must be prepared to respond to potentially life-threatening situations and conduct regular patrols inside and outside of assigned schools in all weather conditions. Candidates must have a high school diploma, pass various pre-employment tests including drug and psychological assessments, and complete required training courses. Strong communication skills, judgment under stress, and physical capability are essential for this role.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
- Successfully pass pre-hire test and oral interview process
- Pass pre-employment drug screen
- Pass pre-employment physical abilities test
- Pass pre-employment psychological exam
- Obtain Certificate of Completion for IS-100.c
- Obtain Certificate of Completion for IS-700.b
- Qualify with selected handgun according to police board guidelines
- Qualify for and maintain Private Officers’ Commission
- Valid driver’s license
- Insurable with district insurance provider
Desired Qualifications
- Previous law enforcement and security experience
- Prior experience working with juveniles in an educational environment
Additional Requirements
- Subject to post-accident drug screens and reasonable suspicion drug screens
- Subject to physical abilities testing following an absence from duty
- Subject to psychological testing following a catastrophic event or injury
