Job Summary
Event Security & Guest Services Officer for Newton Theatre; part-time, event-based position typically 4-8 shifts per month, with most shifts around 5 hours. Responsibilities include monitoring audience behavior, staffing entrances/exits and designated security posts, enforcing venue policies, responding to incidents, assisting with artist security and backstage access control, de-escalation, and preparing incident reports. Requires NJ SORA certification and 1+ year related experience; strong interpersonal skills, ability to stay calm under pressure, and capacity to stand/walk for long periods; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be available for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prefer experience in live entertainment or public-assembly venues and CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
Required Qualifications
- Current New Jersey SORA Certification
- Minimum 1 year of security, public safety, military, law enforcement, hospitality, or related experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
- Strong observational and problem-solving abilities
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule
