Job Summary
Deter, detect, prevent, respond to, and document safety concerns and incidents at Seattle Children's facilities, including fire emergencies, hazardous spills, medical emergencies, and active shooter situations. Provide physical presence at public entrances and lobby areas to manage unauthorized persons or individuals under distress, utilizing non-violent crisis intervention methods and appropriate emergency response protocols. This role supports the department's efforts to protect patients, families, visitors, and property. Security Officer II positions serve as primary responders, while Security Officer I positions provide frontline safety support. The position requires full-time employment and may involve multiple shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field
- 3 years' experience in Security Services or related field
- High School Diploma
- 2 years of experience in Customer Service or Security Services or customer service
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire
- CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire
- Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire
- Completion of Seattle Children's Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire
- Completion of Car Seat Safety Training within 12 months of hire if required for position/role
- Score of 80% or above on Seattle Children's Security Competency Exam in assigned area of the Security Department (Service Call, Emergency Department, Entrance, Surge, and Research) within 12 months
- Valid Washington State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management
- Completion of Wheelchair vehicle Training
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification
- Safety Cares Certification within 90 days of hire if required for location
