Job Summary
Enforce company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property by conducting routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations. Investigate accidents and incidents as assigned and report all occurrences in a timely manner while adapting behavior to the specific patient population. Participate in emergency response and related preparedness drills, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements. Maintain required annual certifications and complete training requirements within required time periods. This role supports Ochsner Health's mission to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate across its 46 hospitals and 370+ health centers in the Gulf South.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 year Security, law enforcement, or military experience
- Previous experience as an armed police officer with a Louisiana or Federal Law Enforcement Agency (reserve status is acceptable) and has had arrest power and been assigned in an active law enforcement capacity
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Completion of Certified Police Officer of Standard Training Policy Academy (state, federal, or military)
- Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification or Military Police equivalent
- Valid Louisiana driver's license and clean DMV report
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training
- Firearms training
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification to be obtained within 90 days of promotion/hire
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of the FTO Program within the first 60 days of employment
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
- Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
