Job Summary
Patrol assigned areas and buildings, conducting a minimum of four rounds per shift to examine doors, windows, and gates for security. Respond to security and life safety issues, including confronting unauthorized persons, checking for contraband, and utilizing emergency fire equipment. Enforce parking policies, check vehicles for signs of theft, and monitor exterior lighting and parking lot conditions. Document all actions on daily shift reports, complete incident and occurrence forms, and notify the Senior Manager of major incidents. Maintain 100% response rates for assistance calls and participate in hospital disaster drills and emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- AVADE (Workplace Violence Prevention training required within three 3 months of hire)
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated basic computer skills
- Demonstrated good judgment
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and adhere to both verbal and written instructions
- 1 year experience
- 21 years of age
- Healthcare experience
- Law enforcement experience
- Availability to work weekends
- Availability to work holidays
- Completion of Handcuffing certification within 2 weeks of hire
- Completion of IAHSS basic certification within 90 days of hire
- Exposure to Oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray including end user instruction and training
- BLS within 90 days
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Strong sight and hearing abilities
- Ability to use enough force to subdue or restrain someone if necessary
- Ability to run to any emergency within the hospital
- Ability to verbally and physically control an emergency situation upon arrival if necessary
