Job Summary
Patrol University premises to protect persons and property, maintain order, and enforce applicable laws and University policies. Monitor surveillance equipment, inspect buildings and access points, and respond to disturbances or emergencies. Prevent loss by reporting irregularities, restraining trespassers, and interviewing witnesses. Complete detailed reports recording observations and obtain witness signatures. Maintain equipment controls, conduct routine inspections, and troubleshoot malfunctions. Mediate disputes and teach preventive, protective, and defensive tactics. Frequent long hours and weekend work required; regularly exposed to outside weather. Valid driver's license and Maryland Special Police Officer license eligibility within six months required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma; or General Education Degree
- Three to six months related experience and/or training
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
- Must exhibit leadership ability
- Demonstrated capacity for planning and follow through
- Must be eligible to obtain State of Maryland Special Police Officer license within 6 months of employment
- Valid Driver's License for state of residence
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
- Frequent long hours and weekend work required
Desired Qualifications
- Conversational Spanish helpful but not required
