Job Summary
Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a shelter location. Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including entrances, common areas, perimeters, and access points, to help identify and report unusual conditions. Monitor access to the location, verify authorized entry as directed by site procedures, and maintain a professional presence to help deter unauthorized activity. Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner; request additional assistance and/or notify appropriate personnel when needed. Document patrols, incidents, observations, and daily activities accurately in required reports and communicate relevant information during shift handoffs. Work fixed-anchor shifts from 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM with a six-month commitment, supplemented by optional claim-shifts to increase earnings.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
- A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only
