Job Summary
Conduct first-line response to escalated situations and perform verbal de-escalation or physical management for aggressive clients. Monitor building perimeters, access points, and alarm systems while detaining criminals and evicting violators. Transport clients in crisis and facilitate safety drills across outpatient facilities. Engage with clients and staff to manage interpersonal conflict and maintain a secure therapeutic environment. Report security breaches verbally and in writing, and participate in multi-disciplinary meetings as requested.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 - 3 years of experience in a security/safety role
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. as requested
- Required Vaccination and TB Test
- Annual influenza (flu) shot
- Negative TB test result
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to clients, staff, and projects
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Experience working in behavioral health setting or programs
- Prior safety/security/law enforcement/military background
- Knowledge of safety awareness practices and protocols
- Knowledge of human behavior and de-escalation techniques
- Ability to communicate with clients, co-workers, other agencies and the community
- Ability to manage high stress situations routine crisis situations through de-escalation and/or physical management/safety training
- Ability to train staff in safety practices and de-escalation techniques
- Skilled in understanding situational awareness and recognizing potential threats
- Skilled in critical thinking and problem solving
- Self-starter who takes initiative in starting and completing tasks, ability to exercise independent judgment, and work productively with a minimum of supervision
- Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving, communication skills, and positive attitude
