Job Summary
Conduct daily grounds patrols of the Lake Junaluska conference property and community while providing security for guests, visitors, and employees. Perform residential house checks and evening facility inspections, assist with traffic control during events, and respond to medical calls alongside EMS and fire agencies. Document emergency and non-emergency calls accurately, operate within policy guidelines using independent judgment, and communicate with stakeholders via two-way radio and cellular phone. Maintain a valid driver's license, CPR/AED certification, and work flexible shifts in moderate to extensive physical conditions, including extreme weather and wet environments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months' related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPR/AED certification
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must possess excellent hospitality skills
- Strong desire to foster an attitude of Christian hospitality
- Basic computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, Paycom, etc.
- Ability to prioritize, organize tasks along with being able to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to use cellular telephone
- Ability to communicate to essential parties via two-way radio
- Ability to operate within LJA policy guidelines using independent judgment
- Good physical condition
- Ability to lift, carry, drag or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to see up close (at 20 inches or less) and at a distance of 20 feet or more
- Good peripheral vision
- Depth perception
