Job Summary
The Security Officer provides protection over hospital properties and facilities, enforces applicable policies, and deters criminal activity. Uses Awareness, Vigilance, Avoidance, Defense, and Escape concepts to protect patients, employees, and visitors. Operates weapons detection devices to monitor individuals and removes contraband. Manages interactions with combative individuals using de-escalation and assistive devices as required, and utilizes security equipment and tools to maintain safety.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- IAHSS basic certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire date
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in police, military, or security, preferable in a health care setting
- Proof of a safe driving record obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state
- BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire
- First Aid training within 30 days of hire
