Job Summary
The Security Officer interacts with visitors in a positive and welcoming manner at the Museum, providing information about the collection and public programs. Responsibilities include communicating Museum policies to ensure safety, conducting opening and closing procedures, performing patrols, completing daily logs, and responding to emergencies. Candidates must possess a high school diploma, New York State Guard License, and one year of security or customer service experience. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and fluency in additional languages.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- New York State Guard License required
- A minimum of one-year security or customer service experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Detail oriented
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to climb stairs and stoop/kneel
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
- Fluency in languages in addition to English preferred
- CPR/AED/FSD and/or Fire Guard certification preferred
Additional Requirements
- NY State Security Guard License is required
- Provisional period may be needed to acquire the certification as a condition of employment
