Job Summary
Conduct building and grounds patrols using fixed posts, walking routes, or company vehicles to deter crime and monitor suspicious activity. Intercede in disputes using verbal de-escalation techniques and physically manage combative individuals who endanger staff, patients, or visitors. Control parking and traffic flow, enforce regulations, and provide escorts for visitors and employees. Respond to emergency codes and alarms, assist air medical teams in transporting patients, and manage property control procedures for valuables and morgue details. Detain unauthorized individuals per policy or state law and release them to proper authorities. Investigate suspicious persons, obtain statements, and prepare incident reports while assisting local law enforcement during emergencies. Maintain confidentiality and assess situations quickly to ensure the safety of Memorial Health patients, visitors, employees, and physicians.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or the equivalency
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of job placement
- Valid Illinois driver's license
- Must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MH Fleet Safety Policy
- Five year MVR
- Ability to operate automatic shift vehicle
- Skill in effectively communicating, verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people including the proper handling of emotional situations and needs
- Skill in using customer service and active listening techniques
- Skill in applying de-escalation techniques
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to assess and evaluate situations quickly and effectively
- Ability to physically perform sustained foot patrols, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, lifting patients, and restraining patients or prisoners as necessary
- Ability to operate computer systems including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook)
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience in security, military or law enforcement
