Job Summary
Proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property and security-sensitive areas while assisting visitors, patients, and staff. Enforce policies, respond to service calls, and prepare incident reports or activity logs. Manage altercations and emergency crises using effective judgment, operate two-way radios, and make decisions as an emergency first responder. Assist with emergency evacuations, including stairwell evacuations and handling evacuation devices. Work nights and weekends for security assignments, with the ability to carry and deploy a taser.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work nights and weekends for security and protection assignments and when required by emergency or special situations
- Ability to carry and deploy a taser
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable and stressful situations
- Ability to manage altercations and emergency crises in an effective and professional manner
- Ability to operate and communicate on a two-way radio
- Good judgment, maturity, initiative, tact and diplomacy when dealing with people in stressful situations
- Ability to frequently be walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pulling, climbing, reaching, and pushing
- Ability to move quickly up and down stairwells, from the ground floor up to the top floor of each building without assistance
- Ability to assist patients, volunteers, visitors, and staff with emergency evacuations, including evacuations in stairwells, to include handling emergency evacuation devices used to transport patients and others to safety
- Ability to make effective decisions as an emergency first responder
- Confidence in stressful situations
- Ability to work as a team member with other emergency responders, including law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel
