Job Summary
Conduct roving foot patrols, escort personnel, and manage guard desk duties to enforce security policies and procedures at the Duluth Seaway Port Authority. Confirm TWIC card requirements, identify authorized vehicles and people, and perform inspections for vendors, contractors, and containers. Monitor CCTV and alarms, maintain accurate Access Control Logs, and provide directions to visitors and traffic control as needed. Execute emergency communication procedures, participate in security drills, and follow notification protocols during Port Security incidents. Maintain safe driving practices, proper key control, and open communication with facility management while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and GSSC policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- US Citizen or Alien lawfully authorized to work in the United States
- Pass State & Federal background checks
- Valid driver's license with no major violations in the last 5 years
- Ability to meet and maintain applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements
- Must successfully complete GSSC Basic Training
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking
- Ability to project a professional and positive attitude while maintaining confidentiality
- Must possess a TWIC card or obtain one within one month
- Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly
- Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
- Ability to push, pull or drag and adult to safety from hazardous situations
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for extended periods of time, while frequently safely entering and exiting the motor vehicle
- Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers
