Job Summary
Patrol hospital buildings and grounds, provide escorts for employees and visitors, and respond to emergency calls including restraining aggressive patients as needed. Monitor multiple systems such as camera, fire, and alarm systems while assisting law enforcement on campus. Dispatch officers throughout multiple locations, address parking issues, and enforce no-smoking policies. Conduct searches of clients and patients to confiscate contraband and provide assistance with vehicle jump starts and lockouts. Communicate with patients, visitors, providers, and staff via telephone, radio, and in person. This role requires availability for all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the 24/7 operational needs of Kootenai Health's main campus and leased locations in Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, and Hayden.
Required Qualifications
- Must have valid driver's license and good driving record
- Must be 23 years of age or older for auto insurance purposes
- Must successfully pass an extensive background investigation
- BLS required
- Must maintain current certification for MOAB, handcuff, baton, and CS spray
- Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities at once and shift priorities as needed
- Successful completion of Hospital Security Officers Basic Training Program and receipt of certificate through the International Association for Hospital Security and Safest Foundation within the first 90 days of employment required
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
- Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
- Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Desired Qualifications
- Associate Degree preferred
- 1 to 3 years' Military, Law Enforcement or Security background preferred
- Health care security experience desired
