Job Summary
Conduct interior and exterior patrols to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism while inspecting doors, windows, locks, elevators, and fire escape stairwells. Monitor surveillance equipment and access points to deter incidents, responding to emergency codes, fire drills, alarms, bomb threats, and crowd control situations. Provide security education, restrain violent or combative patients, and manage 5150 holds by accepting individuals from law enforcement. Document all observations, witness statements, and irregularities in detailed incident reports and daily traffic/parking citations. Assist staff and visitors with lost and found items, answer security policy questions, and serve as the liaison between facility personnel and local law enforcement agencies.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- PSO - Proprietary Private Security Officer certification
- 1 year recent relevant experience
- General knowledge of the usual duty requirements of a security officer with an emphasis on the physical and emotional maturity required for the high degree of judgment and diplomacy necessary to work efficiently in a healthcare environment
- Critical thinking skills
- Decisive judgment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to write incident reports
- Ability to read business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
