Job Summary
Secures premises and personnel by patrolling hospital property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings/equipment/access points, and reporting irregularities; informs violators of policy and procedures and restrains trespassers. Keeps supervisor informed and assists with special projects (locks/keys, security assessments, product reviews, etc.). Performs essential duties with limited supervision and uses non-violent crisis intervention to manage interactions with patients, visitors, families, and employees. Requires completing BLS within 30 days, CHSO certification within one year, and Taser/CEW, de-escalation, handcuffing, and defensive tactics within defined timeframes. Works in a healthcare environment and collaborates with local law enforcement and hospital leadership to uphold safety, protection, and compassionate service.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license (no violations for 2 years)
- Ability to achieve Basic Life Support, BLS certification within 30 days of hire
- Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) with IAHSS certification within one year of employment
- Must obtain Taser/CEW, De-Escalation, Handcuffing, Defensive tactics within 6 months
