Job Summary
Security Officer I at Parrish Healthcare provides highly visible, professional uniformed security presence to deter crime and ensure safety. Responsibilities include responding to alarms, assisting with patient and visitor directions, patrolling buildings and grounds to verify security, escorting personnel as needed, preparing reports, monitoring parking areas, maintaining emergency vehicle access, and contacting authorities when necessary. Requires a High School Diploma or GED, 0–1 year experience, Florida driver license with acceptable MVR, AHCA fingerprint clearance, and completion of specified healthcare-security certifications (e.g., CHSO, defensive tactics, baton, conducted energy weapon) within defined timeframes. Emphasis on adherence to safety procedures, incident reporting, and collaboration with hospital staff to protect patients and property.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
- 0 to 1 year experience
- Valid State of Florida Drivers License (FDL) and acceptable MVR
- AHCA fingerprint clearance required
- FEMA IS906 and IS907 required within one year of hire
- IAHSS Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) required within one year of hire
- BLS through American Heart Association required to be completed quarterly
- Certification in Healthcare Defensive Tactics within first 90 days of hire
- Certification in Defense Baton within 180 days of hire
- Certification in Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) within 180 days of hire
- Traumatic Bleeding Control training within one year of hire
