Job Summary

Enforce all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property. Conduct routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations. Investigate accidents and incidents, reporting all occurrences timely. Perform building openings and lockdowns as approved by Administration. Participate in emergency response and preparedness drills. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population while maintaining respect for privacy. Maintain required annual certifications and complete training within required time periods. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards. This role requires a clean DMV report, BLS certification, and firearms training. Full-time employment at Ochsner Health in New Orleans.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in Security, law enforcement, or military
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Valid driver's license in the state of practice and clean DMV report
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI)
  • firearms training
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification to be obtained within 90 days of promotion/hire
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individual
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to continuously walk the company property including outside areas, interior areas, using stairwells in 11 floor plus structure
  • Must report for duty in the event of a disaster
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Ability to adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
  • Immediate reporting of any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct; patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns
