Job Summary
Conduct security and safety rounds twice per shift, manage aggressive patients, and assist licensed staff with restraints. Monitor high-risk patients awaiting disposition in the ED, document findings, correct hazards, and test alarm systems. Provide incident reports, facilitate emergency evacuations, and act as first responders for hazardous material emergencies by isolating hazards and activating outside resources. Requires valid driver's license, CPI training, and familiarity with the "Use of Force" policy. Evening shift from 11:30 PM to 11:30 AM, Fridays through Mondays.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Valid driver's license
- One to two years of related security experience
- Must acquire key personal safety skills within 90 days of employment (i.e., handcuff, pepper spray, crisis intervention)
- Must have or be able to attend CPI training program
- Must be available for evening shifts (230p to 1130p every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
- Must understand and apply Medical Center's 'Use of Force' policy
- Must be able to conduct Security/Safety rounds of the facility twice during shift
- Must be able to document findings, identify and correct discrepancies and hazards, and test alarm systems
- Must be able to assist in the management of aggressive/combative patients
- Must be able to assist licensed clinical staff in application of restraints
- Must be able to monitor high-risk patients awaiting disposition in the ED
- Must be able to provide required documentation of security department incidents and activity
- Must be able to describe and produce clear, concise reports of an incident and records in a daily activity log
- Must be able to facilitate use of emergency evacuation heliport and understand policies governing use
- Must be able to use knowledge of ground safety training as required
- Must be able to act as first responder for Hazardous Material emergencies
- Must be able to conduct immediate assessment of situation, isolate hazard appropriately, and activate outside resources (NPD/NFR) as needed
