Job Summary
Protect patients, staff, and guests by responding to emergency codes, deescalating distress, and subduing individuals when necessary using tools like restraints and shields. Monitor medical center buildings and grounds for unsafe behaviors, investigate incidents on property, and handle dangerous ordinances such as firearms and narcotics. Operate defensive devices including the Turtle Shield and Reflex Protect, and facilitate safe medical aircraft takeoffs and landings while maintaining acute awareness of movement. Requires International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security officer certification, BAT certification, and valid Ohio driver's license. Night shift position at Firelands Regional Health System in Sandusky.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security officer certification
- Ohio Peace Officers Training Association certification
- BAT (Breath Alcohol Technician) certification
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- non-violent crisis intervention training
- valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license
- proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage
- ability to safely drive during day time and night time hours without restriction
- certification in handcuffing
- certification in defensive tactics
- certification in Turtle Shield
- certification in use of the Reflex Protect defensive device
- mobile phone
