Security Officer - Firefighter EMT

Job Summary
Conduct visible security patrols and detect suspicious acts to protect facility safety and deter crime. Safely respond to emergency incidents including fighting fires, mitigating hazardous material spills, rescuing trapped persons, and administering basic life support. Advance hose lines, operate pump apparatus, and utilize SCBA gear while performing physical duties such as climbing ladders and lifting up to 80 pounds. Maintain emergency medical readiness with current EMT, CPR/AED, and specialized certifications like Hazardous Materials and Confined Space training. Operate wireless technology at client sites and handle crisis situations calmly across various weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
- Health License as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher
- Current CPR/AED Certification
- Pass physical and Fit Test required for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
- Obtain and maintain annual Hazardous Materials Technician Certification (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120)
- Obtain and maintain annual Confined Space and Rope Rescue Certification (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146)
- Possess or be able to obtain any additional state requirements for a firefighter EMT
- Successfully complete a background investigation
- Successfully complete a drug screen
- Valid Driver's License
- At least one year of driving experience
- Clean driving record (no major violations within last 36 months, no more than 1 accident in last 24 months, no more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months)
- Minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle required
- Intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
- Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
- Ability to safely respond to emergency incidents, fight fires, mitigate hazardous material incidents, rescue trapped persons in confined spaces, and administer basic life support (BLS) treatment
- Ability to perform firefighting duties including advancing hose lines, fire apparatus pump operations, safely operate power tools, climb ladders, and wear firefighter protective gear including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) weighing approximately 70 pounds
- Ability to work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 80 pounds
- Ability to climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
- Ability to stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
