Job Summary
Provide protection to people and property through patrol, investigation, monitoring alarms, and surveillance cameras. Patrol buildings and grounds to identify unsafe conditions, respond to emergencies, and conduct preliminary investigations into thefts or misconduct. Escort staff, visitors, and patients as requested while maintaining accountability for valuables and evidence. Prepare and submit written reports logging all incidents. Assist motorists with jump starts and lockouts. Perform patient restraints and detain individuals suspected of criminal conduct. Work evening shifts (3p-11p) with a 40-hour schedule, including potential assignments to off-site locations like ambulatory care centers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma
- Valid Driver's license from state of residence
- Ability to be licensed as a Special State Police Officer under the Commonwealth of MA General Laws Chapter 22 C, section 63
- Exemplary customer service and communication skills
- Ability to handle complex interpersonal situations and crisis management scenarios
- Strong risk analysis and organizational skills
- Reliable and flexible
- Ability to gather, analyze, evaluate, and utilize facts and evidence
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand/walk for a minimum of 8 hours
- Ability to run to any emergency within the hospital and adjoining campuses
- Ability to verbally and physically control an emergency situation upon arrival
- Strong sight and hearing abilities
- Capacity to use appropriate force to overcome, arrest or restrain someone if necessary
- Ability to perform each task in the functional assessment outlined (3 Minute Step Test, Step Bend and Crawl, Stretcher Carry, Pull and Drag, Balance Walk, Stair Climb) upon hire and annually
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field
- 1-3 years of security or related experience
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- Narcan (Naloxone) Training
- AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training
- International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification
- Fluency in more than one language
