Job Summary
Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitor security alarms, and respond rapidly to security emergencies including violent patients, crimes, and emergency codes. Enforce regulations, investigate security breaches, conduct follow-up investigations, and write incident reports while logging all activities in a daily log. Report HIPAA breaches if witnessed and use appropriate emergency and radio codes during dispatches. Ensure a safe environment for medical staff, employees, patients, and visitors at AZ General Hospital Mesa, a 50-bed non-profit facility within the CommonSpirit Health network.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer
- American Heart Association-issued Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 90 days of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Arizona State Driver's License with satisfactory DMV report
- International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer
- Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO)
- One (1) year experience as a Security Guard in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service
- Completion of college level education courses in criminal justice
