Job Summary
Security Officer at VCU Health (Richmond, VA) working Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights (6pm-6:30am) to provide courteous security services to staff, visitors, and patients, enforce hospital rules, project a professional image, and promote a safe healthcare environment. Unarmed, non-sworn role with emphasis on de-escalation, public safety, and responding to potentially dangerous situations. Requires ability to work all shifts including weekends/holidays, and may require a Virginia driver’s license. Physical demands include lifting, prolonged standing/sitting, and frequent movement in a hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- Experience REQUIRED: Previous knowledge of security and/or law enforcement measures and techniques at a level generally acquired during 6 to 12 months of on-the-job training and orientation in such techniques or college curriculum in Administration of Justice
- Education/training REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Education/training PREFERRED: Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
- Independent action(s) required: De-escalates agitated patients, both individually and as a member of a team. Prevents potentially risky and/or violent situations.
