Job Summary

Patrol the university campus by foot, golf cart, or patrol unit, monitoring walkways, parking lots, and buildings. Respond to reports of incidents, suspicious activity, or security violations, and enforce campus rules regarding parking, smoking, and substance use. Direct traffic and parking, operate security equipment and control panels, and provide crowd control for special events. Act as a liaison between the university and local law enforcement, issue citations, and perform custodial or maintenance duties. Maintain records and provide information and directions while ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Full-time 40-hour schedule with weekend and night shifts; on-site role in Gainesville, Georgia.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States on or before the confirmed start date
  • Must maintain work eligibility throughout employment
  • Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license
  • Must have a clean driving record (MVR check required)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a criminal background check
  • Must have and maintain a favorable criminal history
  • Must report any arrest within five days of its occurrence
  • Must report subsequent legal action (conviction, dismissal of charges, etc.)
  • Must be able to operate and drive a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to work in inclement and extreme weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs frequently
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Must be able to carry heavy weighted materials up to 30 lbs frequently
  • Must be able to carry up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, turn, twist, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, reach, grasp
  • Must be able to patrol the university campus by foot, golf cart, or in a patrol unit
  • Must be able to operate security equipment, such as alarms and control panels
  • Must be able to respond to reports of incidents, such as suspicious activity or security violations
  • Must be able to call the police or other authorities to investigate
  • Must be able to enforce campus rules and regulations, such as parking, smoking, and alcohol and drug use
  • Must be able to issue parking violation warnings, citations and tags, and request towing
  • Must be able to direct traffic and parking
  • Must be able to provide crowd control or other security services for special events
  • Must be able to act as a liaison between the university and local law enforcement
  • Must be able to perform custodial and maintenance duties
  • Must be able to provide information and directions
  • Must be able to maintain records
  • Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Must be able to work Saturday/Sunday 7am to 7pm and Monday/Tuesday 11pm to 7 am
  • Must be able to work nights/weekends as needed
  • Must be able to work extended hours to meet the needs of the department
  • Must be able to travel daily on campus and between sites
  • Must be able to drive for Brenau purposes
  • Must have a valid Georgia driver's license for university vehicles
  • Must maintain a clean driving record for university vehicles
  • Must undergo a criminal background check
  • Must undergo a pre-employment drug screening
  • Must undergo random background checks
  • Must undergo random MVR checks
  • Must undergo random drug screens if traveling regularly or operating a university vehicle
  • Must be subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening
  • Must submit proof of any professional degree, license, or certification required to competently perform the work at the time of application

Desired Qualifications

  • 2 years in Law Enforcement or Security experience preferred
  • Post-Certified highly preferred
