Job Summary
Enforces policies and procedures with all patients/residents, visitors and staff; patrols and secures facility buildings and grounds; monitors conduct of visitors and confronts unauthorized persons for questioning; reports safety, fire hazards or security violations; responds to requests for assistance; maintains incident reports and other security documentation; and supports safety across Sanford Health campuses. Requires the ability to work in highly stressful situations, de-escalate when possible, and prioritize calls for service based on urgency. Includes potential access to areas where medications are stored and may require a valid driver’s license depending on region. Prior experience in healthcare security, contract security, or law enforcement is highly preferred; basic IAHS certification is preferred within one year of hire.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- College or vocational education preferred
- Prior experience healthcare security, contract security and/or law enforcement is highly preferred
- May require a current valid driver's license with Sanford insurability dependent upon region
- Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety preferred within one year of hire
