Job Summary
Screen and monitor entrance points for weapons while maintaining safety for employees, patients, and visitors. Aid with disruptive incidents and provide staff protection while demonstrating exceptional customer service. Conduct daily security duties in a fast-paced environment requiring high attention to detail and stress management. Maintain a valid New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun and SORA license, and possess a Level Three Retention Holster. Perform physical fitness standards and firearms marksmanship qualifications. Requires armed law enforcement experience or active military service, a valid driver's license, and completion of de-escalation and BLS training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years of armed law enforcement experience
- Minimum of four (4) years active military with separation no more than five (5) years ago
- No discharge from the military under dishonorable conditions
- No crimes of moral turpitude (e.g., bad check writing, theft)
- Pass a background check
- Submit to an MMPI-2 evaluation
- No felony, drug related, domestic violence, or other criminal convictions that would prohibit carrying a firearm
- Pass a firearms marksmanship qualification course
- Pass a physical fitness standard for Armed Security Officer
- Possess a Level Three Retention Holster for an approved handgun
- Possess a 9mm full size frame handgun
- Valid driver's license
- Basic Security Officer Certification (IAHSS) within 1 year of hire
- Inspira Health approved de-escalation and common language training within 100 days of hire
- American Heart Association BLS within 100 days
- Valid State of New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun
- Valid State of New Jersey Armed SORA license
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to handle stress and pressure and make sound decisions in high-stress situations
- High attention to detail and observational awareness
- Ability to effectively interact with hospital employees, visitors, patients, contractors, and volunteers
