Job Summary
Part-time Security Officer for library locations. Patrol library buildings and grounds, enforce the Code of Conduct, respond to incidents and emergencies, coordinate with law enforcement and other responders, monitor security systems, assist with opening/closing procedures, and support emergency preparedness and staff safety training. Requires 3–5 years of customer service/security experience, Illinois PERC certification (or ability to obtain within 6–12 months), 18+ years old, high school degree or equivalent, and availability for evenings and Sundays (5:00-9:30 pm weekdays and 10:30 am-6:30 pm Sundays). Benefits include vacation, sick/personal leave, holidays, pension plan, and optional savings plans. Arlington Heights, IL location; in-person work.
Required Qualifications
- 18+ years of age
- 3–5 years of experience in a customer service, security, or public-facing environment
- Current Illinois PERC certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 6–12 months of hire
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Sound judgment and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies
- Commitment to excellent customer service and creating an inclusive environment for all
- Ability to work effectively with staff and customers in alignment with Our Culture and IDEA
- Availability to work a schedule that includes evening and weekend hours
- Education: High school degree or equivalent required
