Job Summary
The Security Officer will provide a secure environment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for Fergus Falls Hospital and buildings adjacent to the hospital. Responsibilities include routine security checks inside and outside the building, monitoring doors/windows/grounds/parking, remaining alert to suspicious activity, reporting concerns, escorting employees when needed, maintaining a visible presence during shift changes, carrying communication devices, and assisting with emergencies and non-medical access for patients and visitors. The role requires professional conduct, confidentiality per HIPAA, and adherence to safety and security policies. Shifts are casual (less than 32 hours biweekly) with hourly compensation of $18.15-$21.86. Certifications in CPR and multiple IAHSS/CAHSO designations are required or to be obtained within specified timeframes; pre-employment health screening is also required. The position is based in Fergus Falls, MN at Lake Region Healthcare, with valid equal opportunity employment policy in place.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Background in Security, Law Enforcement or Military Service highly desirable
- Current Healthcare Provider level CPR certification upon hire or within 6 months
- CHSO (Certified Healthcare Security Officer – IAHSS Basic Level) certification or requirement to obtain within 90 days from hire date
- IAHSS Healthcare Safety certification or requirement to obtain within six months from hire date
- IAHSS Advanced Level (CAHSO) certification or requirement to obtain within one year from hire date
- Successful completion of pre-employment health screening
