Job Summary
Hospital Security Officer responsible for maintaining a safe environment through proactive patrols, incident response, and access control. Collaborates with clinical staff and emergency responders; emphasizes calm, professional communication, de-escalation, and adherence to hospital policies. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 2+ years security experience, CPR/BLS within 90 days, AVADE certification within 30 days, and a valid driver’s license. Strong focus on documentation, customer service, and ability to operate in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Physical demands include lifting up to 75 pounds and potential for emergencies requiring assistance and evacuation. This role is part-time with scheduled 8-hour shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in security, public safety, hospital, healthcare, or behavioral health environment
- CPR/BLS certification through AHA or American Red Cross required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment
- AVADE certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment
- Active driver’s license required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong observational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Customer service mindset with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations
- Ability to follow protocols, policies, and instructions accurately
- Experience with access control and CCTV systems (preferred)
- Strong report writing skills (preferred)
- Hospital security or behavioral health security experience preferred
