Job Summary
Security Officer 2 at WVU Health System provides security and information services to patients, visitors, and staff; maintains visibility and presence, responds to information requests, and escorts or transports individuals as needed. Responsibilities include monitoring traffic, preventing theft or vandalism, performing building rounds, and documenting incidents. Required duties emphasize safety, policy enforcement, and collaboration with clinical staff during emergencies, as well as capabilities in vehicle operation, incident reporting, and ensuring the safety of people and property. Preferred qualifications include an associate degree in criminal justice or related field. Certifications in defensive tactics, OC spray, baton, Taser, and handcuffing, plus BLS/First Aid and background checks are part of the role.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Obtain certification in BLS or HeartSaver First Aid within 60 days of hire date
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable) as required for regulated areas
- Defensive Tactics Certification
- OC Spray Certification
- Baton Certification
- Taser User Certification
- Handcuffing Tactics training
- AVADE Training Levels I - III
