Job Summary
Coordinate administrative and operational security activities on a specific shift in a residential re-entry center, leading staff to maintain adequate coverage. Read post orders, conduct resident formal counts, and directly lead monitors and residents in performing duties, including training new employees, resolving complaints, developing schedules, and approving leave requests. Report suspected unauthorized activity, maintain daily logs for resident in/out and visitors, and provide adequate staffing during short periods. Participate in security staff evaluations, verify training completion, monitor safety practices, and prepare accident reports. Conduct shift office meetings, perform visual and audio surveillance, and engage in confined area inspections to verify door and window security. Take appropriate action to prevent or diffuse disruptive situations, react calmly in emergencies, and complete in-service training while complying with all facility and corporate policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must hold a current and active driver's license
- One (1) year as a Monitor I or two (2) years related experience in a similar field
- Familiar with community correctional operations, corrections laws, rules and regulations and the principle and practices of supervision training
- Ability to write legible reports in English in own handwriting, using correct grammar
- Ability to plan motivate, control, schedule, train and react quickly and appropriately to emergencies situations, effectively communicate with residents and staff
- Ability to work any assigned shift
- Ability to work with computers and the applicable software typically used by the facility
