Job Summary
Enforce property standards, rules, and regulations while maintaining access control procedures and monitoring CCTV surveillance systems. Patrol the property by foot, investigate incidents, and de-escalate emergency or crisis situations to ensure the safety of patrons and clients. Respond to medical emergencies by providing First Aid, CPR, or AED support until professionals arrive, and deal with trespassers in a fair and safe manner. Maintain a detailed memo book, prepare incident reports, and assist emergency and law enforcement personnel as needed. Work full-time hours in a fast-paced, busy environment requiring a proactive approach to onsite situations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be willing and able to stand, walk, and patrol by foot for extended periods (8-12 hours)
- Valid BC Security license
- Advanced Security Training Certificate is mandatory
- Valid OFA 1 certificate
- Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism
- Must have at least 1 year of prior Security experience
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal
- Must be able to take a Proactive approach to all onsite situations
- Must be capable of retaining all relevant information provided by management and designated staff
- Must be able to take constructive feedback where appropriate
- Must be unafraid to attend highly stressful emergency situations
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required
- Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress
- Must be comfortable working in a busy highly populated area
- Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team
- British Columbia Security License
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in Loss Prevention / Retail Security is considered an asset
