Job Summary
Provide a visible security presence on school campuses to protect students, faculty, staff, and visitors by monitoring hallways, parking lots, and entrances. Conduct scheduled tours of buildings and grounds by vehicle and on foot to identify conditions that could result in injury or loss, including fire, water leakage, or spills. Respond to security concerns and emergencies by reporting suspicious activities to supervisors or police authorities, protecting individuals before potentially disruptive situations, and assisting in monitoring students in non-instructional settings. Administer the crisis intervention plan, assist in evacuation drills, and conduct investigations as directed by the Director of Safety and Security. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff health matters while cooperating with local law enforcement.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
- Police department training or security guard experience
- Valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License and a safe driving record
- CPI trained and maintained
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, building surveillance
- United States citizen, at least 21 years of age
- Clearances must be within 12 months
- TB must be within 90 days of hire date
- PA State Police Clearance (Act 34)
- Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
- FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114)
- School Personnel Health Form (Physical and TB test)
- PDE 6004 Form (Act 24)
- Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release Form(s) (Act 168)
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time up to eight (8) hours per day
- Must be physically able to protect students, staff and visitors from potentially dangerous and/or disruptive behavior
- Must be able to sit for limited periods of time not to exceed approximately two (2) hours
- May have to lift and/or hold students or adults involved in adversarial encounters
